Biography

For more than 25 years, Eddie Kendrick has been singing and playing country music in the Northern California area and beyond. From as far north as Ukiah to south of Monterey and from Elko, Nevada to Honolulu, Hawaii. A San Francisco Bay Area native, Eddie has performed in almost every venue you can hear a country song.

In 1981, Eddie co-founded The Stone Rangers, one of the Bay Area's most popular country dance bands of the time. After a few months of playing weekends at some of the smaller clubs, they landed a house gig at The West 40 Club in Hayward, CA. For almost seven years, they worked five nights a week playing country dance music. During that time, they opened shows for stars such as Johnny Paycheck, Lacy J. Dalton and Charly McClain and backed up rising artists like fiddle champion Billy Armstrong and Marty Haggard, son of legendary Merle Haggard. They performed at state and county fairs, country dance conventions, corporate events and more.

From there, Eddie went on to appear with Jonnie Kay & Spur of the Moment at events and clubs all over the Bay Area. As bass player and band leader, his smooth vocal style was a great compliment to Jonnie's rip-roaring fiddle tunes. He played the same role with The Ace of Hearts Band featuring Sandy Ellwanger.

Since then, Eddie has performed on a regular basis as a featured vocalist and bass player with both The Dave Younger Band and Fred McCarty & Company for special events, festivals, clubs and Indian Casinos in Northern California. Eddie’s song list includes close to three hundred popular and classic country songs as well as a couple of his own original dance tunes. He has made many vocal demo recordings over the years for aspiring songwriters. You'll soon find clips of some of his recordings in the Samples page.

Over the past couple of years, Eddie has expanded his musical horizons while performing on a semi-regular basis with Johnny Z and the Cameros at The Gold Dust Lounge in downtown San Francisco, where classic rock’n roll is the house specialty as well as pop, blues and jazz standards of Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Bobby Darrin, just to name a few. At the same time, he has helped make country music a regular occurrence in the crowded Union Square venue where he has never had more fun fulfilling patron’s requests for songs from Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Marty Robbins and more.

Music has never been more enjoyable for Eddie and he looks forward to entertaining people for many years to come!
